Elizabeth Conway is a bookbinder, living and working in Allendale, Northumberland. She repairs books and also makes decorative boxes and blank note books.
As well as doing work for private customers, she has repaired books for Hartlepool Museums Service, Tees Archaeology, Hartlepool Athenaeum Club and Bede’s World, and made a visitors’ book, which was signed by Princess Anne, the Princess Royal when she re-dedicated the restored lifeboat, the Princess Royal. She is a member of the Society of Bookbinders, and is a regular at the group of bookbinders working at the Lit & Phil, in Newcastle.
Elizabeth’s blank books and boxes are decoratied with bookcloth and marbled paper. Made by traditional methods, they are very robust, and will endure a lot of wear and tear. She is happy to receive commissions for new blank books, albums or book repairs.
