I came to painting relatively late in life at the age of 53 whilst in treatment for severe PTSD. My early works were all abstracts, stories relating to the collapse of my world in 2014.
My relationship with painting was tainted by memories of school and so it took some time to find my own way.
Now in 2024 I have produced a body of work over the last 6 years that has silenced the old critical voice and instead I am now energised and excited about painting.
Those sereis of paintings include watercolour wildlife, cityscapes, semi-abstract landscapes, portraits and quirky creatures. My latest series of landscapes were paiinted while on a road trip to celebrate my 60th birthday in January/February of this year.
That collection is called 3000 miles of colour and will be exhibited in July.
I don't want a singular style, I enjoy the challenge of painting, so I change mediums each year and look for something new to challenge me.
