Born into a farming family, with a father a champion ploughman, there is little wonder I have been fascinated with cereals throughout my artistic life. Nowadays I prefer to plait using heritage varieties of wheat, but any long stemmed varieties are a delight to use. Each year the crops vary, altering with the weather conditions during growth. According to the Heritage Craft Register, I am a Straw Craftsman, an endangered species!! I teach, use plaits from other countries and create new designs as well as traditional.
